Source Intelligence

See which sources shape AI answers, then decide who should act

AI answers are built from sources. If the wrong publisher, review page, Reddit thread, partner profile or competitor page becomes the evidence, your own website may not be enough. CiteTrack groups the cited URLs across your buyer questions, shows impact and ownership, and turns the right source action into assigned work.

From citation to influence

See where the answer is being decided.

When AI relies on a publisher, review page, community discussion, partner or competitor, the right response may be content, PR, partnerships, review management or a supported correction. CiteTrack shows the source, the questions it influences and who should act.

Owned source

Improve the page you control when it is thin, outdated or missing the claim AI needs.

Partner or publisher

Use public contact evidence and a supported correction when an external page shapes repeated wrong answers.

Community source

Monitor public discussion and answer recurring objections when Reddit, forums or review sites influence the narrative.

Competitor source

Compete with stronger evidence instead of pretending you can edit a rival page.

From a source URL to owned work

The screen preserves the evidence and the human workflow around it.

Aggregate real answer sources

Group the URLs observed in current citation results and see how many buyer questions and AI services each source influences.

Classify control and impact

Separate your pages, partners, editorial publishers, communities, references and competitor-owned sources; prioritize high-impact repetition.

Assign and measure the follow-up

Create a source task with saved evidence, owner, expected outcome, review date, permanent notes and activity history.

What Source Intelligence does—and does not claim

It answers which external or owned pages repeatedly shape the answers you monitor, where each source ranks in cited-source order, and which questions and AI services depend on it. It then gives the team a shared action record. CiteTrack does not claim that one outreach email caused an answer to change; confirm the source, answer and dates before drawing that conclusion.

When to contact, correct, compete or monitor

Contact a publisher or partner when the same inaccurate or incomplete claim appears across meaningful questions or services and you have a supported correction. Improve your own equivalent when a competitor-owned source wins. Monitor a reference source when it is accurate and stable. Avoid outreach based on one isolated answer.

Source Intelligence FAQ

How the source evidence, prioritization and follow-up workflow work in practice.

What is AI Source Intelligence?

AI Source Intelligence identifies the web pages AI services rely on when answering your tracked buyer questions. It groups repeated source URLs, classifies who controls them, shows their question and platform coverage, and turns important sources into assigned work.

How is this different from ordinary citation tracking?

Citation tracking answers whether your brand or URL appeared for a particular question and AI service. Source Intelligence works across those results to reveal which owned and third-party pages repeatedly shape the broader answer set.

Which AI sources can CiteTrack classify?

The workspace separates your own pages, partner-controlled pages, editorial or publisher articles, community discussions, reference sources and competitor-owned pages. You can filter the portfolio by these types.

How is source impact determined?

CiteTrack considers observed recurrence across buyer questions and AI services, along with the best source position and ownership type. The impact label is a prioritization aid; inspect the supporting answers before making a material decision.

Can I see which questions and AI platforms use a source?

Yes. Each source drill-down lists the supporting buyer questions, the AI services where the URL appeared and its best observed source position.

Does CiteTrack discover private contact information?

No. CiteTrack checks only publicly available author profiles, editorial contacts, contact pages and published email addresses. It never guesses an email address, and unconfirmed AI-generated addresses are removed from the saved evidence.

Does Source Intelligence send outreach automatically?

No. It creates a reviewable outreach or correction task. Your team checks the source evidence, public contact and approved facts before sending anything through the appropriate channel.

Can CiteTrack prove that outreach changed an AI answer?

Not by itself. A later answer or source shift can be observed, but correlation is not proof that a particular message caused the change. Compare saved evidence, dates, source position and other changes before making that claim.

What should I do with a competitor-owned source?

Usually, improve your own competing evidence rather than trying to edit a competitor page. Study the questions and claims the source satisfies, then create or strengthen an authoritative page that answers the same buyer need.

When should a source be marked Monitor only or No action?

Use Monitor only when the information is accurate, stable or not yet repeated enough to justify work. Use No action when the source is irrelevant, inaccessible to your team or unlikely to affect a meaningful buyer question.

Where is Source Intelligence data stored?

The source portfolio and saved assignments are stored in your WordPress installation with the rest of CiteTrack data. The screen is available from CiteTrack AI → Sources → Source Intelligence.

Who should own source actions?

Ownership depends on control: content or SEO for your pages, partnerships for partner listings, PR or subject-matter experts for editorial corrections, and community teams for public discussions. CiteTrack lets you record the responsible person explicitly.
