Blends citations, cited-source position and unlinked mentions.
Measure whether AI answers find, cite and recommend you
Your buyer asks AI who to trust. The answer names sources, ranks options and can send the next click to someone else. CiteTrack AI checks the buyer questions you approve across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Grok, then separates citations, unlinked mentions, verified absences and checks that could not be measured.
Watch the citation workflow or inspect the current interface
Follow the workflow in the short tour, then inspect the real Visibility, Questions and source screens installed with CiteTrack AI.
Measure AI visibility without hiding the denominator
The Rank Tracker separates brand presence, citations and share of voice, compares only shared prompt-and-service coverage, and leaves a gap when evidence is incomplete instead of inventing a zero.

AI visibility
See how often AI services cite or mention you, and whether that is improving.
Which AI engines show your site?
Share of the same tracked prompts where your site was cited or mentioned.
Named in the answer, with or without a citation.
Your domain appeared in the saved source list.
Your citation share against configured competitors.
Coverage: 22 slots at the start, 24 now. Movement uses only 18 prompt-and-service slots available at both dates.
AI visibility outcomes over time
Mentions, citations and share of voice answer different questions.
Citation position and source footprint
More outside sources is not automatically better. Review exact domains before deciding what changed.
Track buyer decisions, not a random keyword list
Questions & Citations stores the decision, customer, buying stage, expected evidence, priority, schedule and AI services behind every recurring check.

Tracked buyer questions
Questions currently monitored across enabled services.
Citation tracking is for the decision that happens before your site visit.
If AI builds the shortlist, the first conversion event is not a form fill. It is whether the answer cites you as evidence. The first question to answer is simple: am I cited in AI answers?
What to track
Buyer prompts like best provider, alternatives, reviews, comparisons, pricing questions and problem-led searches.
What you learn
Citation status, source position, winning URL, sentiment, competitor share of voice and the exact answer evidence.
What you do next
Assign the missing citation, weak page, wrong source or competitor win to the right workflow and re-run the same prompt later.
Prompt monitoring across every major engine
- Cited / mentioned / absent, distinguish “your URL was cited” from “your brand was named” from “you weren’t there at all.”
- Position & winning URL, which of your pages won the citation, and where it ranked among the sources.
- Share of voice, your citations vs each named competitor, per prompt and per engine.
- Sentiment & framing, how the engine talks about you, captured from the answer text.
- Measured / unmeasured, a failed, blocked, empty or unverifiable response stays outside the denominator instead of becoming a false absence.

A full loop, not a yes/no check
Most tools answer “were you cited?” CiteTrack runs the whole cycle so you can actually move the number.
1. Choose the questions
Start with real buyer decisions, or review editable suggestions from your published titles and question headings. You approve the question before any paid check runs.
Learn more ?2. Track the citations
Each approved question runs across the AI services you select. CiteTrack saves usable answer evidence, every source URL, citation position, recommendation rank and status.
3. See who wins
The narrative-control map ranks the domains AI cites most across your topic, your exact list of where to earn mentions to displace competitors.
Learn more ?4. Improve and re-check
Use the saved answer, approved Business Facts, source evidence and page checks to choose a supported action. Re-run the same question without claiming the change caused the result.
Learn more ?5. Tie it to revenue
Attribution connects AI referral sessions to conversions, so you can prove what winning a citation is worth.
Learn more ?6. Get alerted
Rule-based alerts tell you the moment a citation drops or a competitor overtakes you, no manual checking.
Learn more ?How CiteTrack AI tracks citations
You add the buyer questions you want to monitor, or review editable suggestions based on your published page titles and question headings. Suggestions are not presented as search-demand data, and nothing runs until you approve it. With your own API keys, CiteTrack can check approved questions across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Grok, save the usable answer and inspect every retained source URL.
Because you use your own keys, you pay the AI providers directly at cost, and your keys and all results stay on your own site. If an engine call ever fails, CiteTrack records the failure rather than logging a false “absent”, so your trend data stays trustworthy.
Work from “absent” toward “cited”
An absent result becomes an investigation only when the check produced complete usable evidence. Review the answer and all saved source URLs, the rendered-page checks, and the source portfolio before choosing a content, technical, source or monitoring action. CiteTrack records later runs separately so you can see what changed without claiming causation.
Who it’s for
Anyone whose customers ask AI before they buy.
AI citation tracking FAQ
Can you really tell if ChatGPT cites my website?
Yes. CiteTrack runs your target prompts through each engine’s API with web/search grounding enabled, then checks whether your domain appears in the answer’s cited sources (cited), is named in the text without a link (mentioned), or is absent. It records the position and the exact URL that won.
Which AI engines are supported?
CiteTrack can run grounded visibility checks through ChatGPT (OpenAI), Perplexity, Google Gemini, Claude (Anthropic) and Grok (xAI) using your own API keys. Microsoft Copilot is identified for referral attribution only because it does not provide a public answer API for these checks.
Is CiteTrack the only plugin that does this?
No. Other products offer citation and visibility checks. CiteTrack combines an approval-based question portfolio, comparable five-service trends, competitor share of voice, source evidence, approved Business Facts, WordPress tasks, referral attribution and alerting on the site where the work happens.
What is share of voice?
For each prompt and engine, share of voice is your citation count divided by the combined citations of you plus your named competitors, one number for how much of the AI conversation you own, tracked over time.
What happens when an AI check fails or its sources cannot be verified?
The result is unmeasured, not absent. Empty, blocked, incomplete or unverifiable responses are excluded from visibility scoring, and the saved health state explains why the interval is unavailable.
How much do the AI API calls cost me?
You use your own keys and pay the providers at cost, typically a few dollars a month for a normal prompt set. You control how many prompts, which engines and how often runs happen, so the spend is yours to manage. There’s no per-query platform fee.
How is this different from a rank tracker?
Rank trackers measure your position in the classic list of links. CiteTrack measures what they can’t see: whether the AI’s synthesized answer actually cites or names you, where competitors beat you, and how you’re described.
Where is my data stored?
CiteTrack is local-first. Prompts, results, keys, tasks and reports live in your WordPress database. Citation runs contact the AI providers you configure with your own API keys; CiteTrack does not host your citation dashboard.
Know your AI citations before your competitors do
See whether AI recommends you, and who it recommends instead, on your own prompts, on your own site.
