Your license key is emailed right after purchase and is always shown in your account dashboard (format ctai_xxxx-xxxx-xxxx).
Activate
- Install and activate the plugin, then go to CiteTrack AI → License.
- Paste your key and click Activate license.
- The screen shows active plus your sites used / allowed. This site now counts against your plan’s limit.
Activating unlocks citation tracking, attribution, AEO/GEO and alerts. Crawler logging works even without a license.
License won’t activate? Work through these
- Re-check the key, copy it from your account with no leading or trailing spaces; it must start with
ctai_. - “Limit reached”, you’ve hit the maximum sites for your plan. Deactivate one site (CiteTrack AI → License → Deactivate) to free a slot, or upgrade. Agencies can add a seat from the licensing dashboard.
- “Could not reach the licensing server”, your host or a security/firewall plugin is blocking outbound requests to citetrackai.com. Allow outbound HTTPS (or ask your host to), then retry.
- A different status appears, the License screen shows the exact server reply. Expired → renew from your account. Refunded or disabled → contact support.
- Still stuck, open a ticket from Contact with your key and the on-screen message; we can re-issue or re-sync it.
A lapsed or deactivated license never deletes your data. Existing analytics stay readable; only new citation runs pause until you reactivate.
