Understand the API cost ledger

The Cost dashboard is a local ledger of user-triggered AI work. It records provider, model, tool usage, token usage, search requests and estimated cost when the provider returns enough information to calculate it.

Where to find it

Open CiteTrack AI → Costs. Use it to see monthly spend, calls, token usage, search fees, provider breakdowns and daily movement.

How costs are calculated

CiteTrack prefers provider-reported cost data when available. Otherwise it estimates from a dated local pricing catalogue for known models and tools. If the model is unknown, CiteTrack marks it as unpriced instead of inventing a number.

What is tracked

  • Citation checks.
  • AI-assisted page fixes and content briefs.
  • Outreach or correction drafts.
  • Reputation and brand analysis.
  • Prompt discovery.
The ledger does not store your API keys. It exists so you can audit usage and avoid surprise provider bills.
