CiteTrack AI installs like any WordPress plugin and starts logging AI crawlers the moment it’s active, no license needed for that part.
Install
- Download the plugin zip from your account (the same place your license key lives).
- In WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the zip, and click Install Now.
- Click Activate. CiteTrack creates its database tables and schedules its background jobs.
- Open CiteTrack AI → Dashboard to confirm it’s running, then run the 5-step Setup wizard to add your license and connect Google.
Crawler logging runs free without a license. Citation tracking, attribution and AEO/GEO unlock once you activate a license under CiteTrack AI → License.
Verify it works
Visit /wp-json/citetrack/v1/health-check while logged in as an administrator. It reports the plugin version, whether the tables exist, and which cron jobs are scheduled, a quick way to confirm a healthy install.
Install trouble?
- “The uploaded file exceeds upload_max_filesize”, your host caps upload size. Raise it in php.ini, or upload the unzipped folder to
wp-content/plugins/via SFTP, then Activate. - Tables didn’t get created, deactivate and reactivate the plugin; activation is what builds them. Make sure the database user has CREATE privileges.
- Cron jobs not scheduled, some hosts disable WP-Cron. Add a real server cron hitting
wp-cron.php, or use your host’s cron tool, so scheduled crawls and citation runs fire.
