REST API overview

CiteTrack exposes a REST API under the citetrack/v1 namespace on your own site, so you can pull metrics into other dashboards or automate runs.

Authenticate

  1. In WordPress go to Users → Profile → Application Passwords.
  2. Enter a name (e.g. “CiteTrack API”) and click Add New Application Password; copy the generated password.
  3. Use it with your WordPress username over HTTP Basic auth. The user needs manage_options for write endpoints.

Example, fetch the Crawl Health Score:

curl -u USER:APP_PASSWORD https://yoursite.com/wp-json/citetrack/v1/health

Key endpoints

/health, /crawl-log, /citations, /citations/run (trigger a run), /analytics, /tasks, /alerts, /alert-rules, /loop, /sources, /storage and /optimize/summary. All return JSON; list endpoints accept date-range and paging query args where relevant.

Application Passwords require HTTPS. If auth fails with 401, confirm the site is on HTTPS and that a security plugin isn’t stripping the Authorization header.
