Some hosts disable or delay WP-Cron. When CiteTrack needs to finish a database update in the background, WordPress may show a notice with Run the update now.
When to click it
- The notice says CiteTrack is finishing a database update.
- Tracking or reports say they are paused until the update completes.
- Your host has WP-Cron disabled and scheduled work does not run automatically.
What it does
The button runs the pending upgrade worker with administrator permission and a nonce check. It does not delete your settings, prompts, keys, reports or analytics. It simply lets the plugin complete the same background work that WP-Cron would normally run.
If it returns later
If the notice returns after a successful run, your site may be losing scheduled events. Add a real server cron that calls wp-cron.php every 5-15 minutes, or ask your host to enable WordPress cron.
